Garlick Gilhooley Round 4 - 6, 2008 - Moama, August
2008.
Recently, the Race for the Annual
Garlick-Gilhooley Trophy was concluded on our August
Weekend in Moama.
Jack McFarlane, the leader with 3 wins after the Albury
Weekend, only won 1 game out of 3 in Moama, to finish
fourth.
Kevin Mansbridge, another Life Member and long time
supporter, won his 3 games in the Moama weekend,
but could not quite make up the deficit, only winning 2
games in Albury. Kevin was in third place.
Monica Bayona, just behind Jack after Albury on shots
up, won the first 2 games, but lost the last game, to be
the runner-up this year! Well done Monica.
Michael (“Mick”) Szcykulski from Seymour VRI Bowls Club,
was in the running with 3 wins after Albury, and
continued his winning ways, being the only member who
won 3 games on both weekends! Mick was awarded the
Garlick Gilhooley trophy for 2008 at Moama, following
the third game on Sunday. Congratulations Michael, and
all player who took part in Albury and Moama – it is
great to see so many members joining in!
In Moama, 58 members played bowls, a near record for the
tournament – lets keep the strength going in our other
games, leading up to the 2010 ANZRI Bowls Carnival, in
Ballarat.
It was pleasing to see so many members and family
joining in the fun of the weekends away, in Albury,
Mulwala and Moama. Our thanks to Secretary Bob,
Committee and Selectors, for giving us such a great time
away in the Winter! Looking forward to the future games
ahead over Summer now.
Photos will be put online soon, please keep looking for

Approximately 60 members took the greens in May in
Albury, to contest the first 3 rounds of the Bi-Enniel

After the 3 rounds had been run and won, in lovely

percentage, on 65 Points, closely followed by Monica
Bayona.
A good time was had by all, thanks to the staff of
Albury SS&A Bowls Club for their hospitality, we look
forward to returning there in 2009!
To all players, the Final 3 rounds of the Garlick
Gilhooley Trophy will be conducted on August 9 & 10,
