President's Message:
Congratulations
to our Teams who played in the annual VRI v API game
at Ballarat in November.
We fielded 8 rinks - a great effort - and whilst we
were successful before lunch, the API again showed
their
superiority after the great lunch, running away with
a win of 20 shots overall.
Photos from this event will be loaded above soon,
keep looking for them!
Our next game, is the retired railwaymen's event on
November 19, looking forward to seeing many members
there.
Planning is well underway for the future events of
the Club - both within Victoria, and with our
Interstate rivals, in 2009 & 2010 - more details in
the coming pages.
If you are interested in becoming a member, or
playing with our group, please contact Secretary
Bob, and he will tell you how this can be done.
I look forward to continuing get togethers and
playing bowls, in a social and friendly atmosphere -
what our Club is world famous for!
Best wishes for the Pennant Season to all
members.
Leo McNamara, President.

History:
The VRI Bowls Club is a Social Bowls Club.
It was formed in 1948, to allow Railway Men to have
a social and competitive outlet in Lawn Bowls.
The Club has grown in size over the years, and
currently has over 115 members, is open to Ladies
and Men Members of the VRI Inc.
The Club has numerous events during the year, but
does not have a Clubhouse or Green of it's own.
Rather, we hire out the facilities of a host Club,
and play games during the year.
Most recently, we have entered our Summer season on
bowls, with games in Ballarat, coming up in Port
Melbourne and at Princes Park before Christmas.
After Christmas, there is the Annual PUT tournament,
and our Bi-Ennial Club Championship matches, running
into Winter 2009.
More details of the Club's history and events are on
the following pages. If you have any questions
regarding the Club and its events, please let us
know.
