The VRI Bowls Club conducts a number of Social Bowls activities at various Bowls Clubs thoughout the year.

These include Annual matches against other Clubs, and Annual weekends away during the winter, for members to enjoy social bowls activities in a competitive atmosphere.

VRI Bowls Club – Country Week History

The VRI Bowls Club has conducted its annual Inter-centre “Country Week” bowls event, since 1949.

At the height of popularity, there were bus loads of players who, after the opening, were shipped around Melbourne to available greens in Footscray, Albert Park, Middle Park and other places, to play Pairs and Fours Championships during the annual “Country Week” events of the VRI.

In more recent years, the games have been played at City of Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Sunshine VRI and Newport bowls clubs.

Many players play in this event, with the only requirement being a VRI Inc. Member, you may play in the “Country Week” Pairs or Fours.
