History
The
Australian & New Zealand Railway
Institute Lawn Bowls Carnivals have
been contested since 1935, at
rotating venues around the States of
Australia & in New Zealand.
The most
recent Carnival was in Rotorua, New
Zealand, in 2008.
At the
Carnivals, members play for
Championship Singles, Pairs, Triples
& Fours events, as well as the
Denniss Cup & Commissioners Shield
for results in the Fours Tests (16
player sides) & the Anderson Trophy
(reserve 4 player side). A
trophy is also awarded for the best
Rink in the Test Matches.
These
Carnivals are held usually over a
10-12 day period, and are as much a
social as competitive event.
Official Functions occur throughout
the Carnival period, and visitors
are welcome to attend as well.
The next
ANZRI Lawn Bowls Carnival is to be
held in Victoria in February 2010.
