President's Message:
The Ararat VRI Bowls Club runs Lawn Bowls Events and
Games for VRI Members in the Ararat region.
History:
The Ararat VRI Bowls Club was formed at a
meeting held in August, 1955.
The first President of the Club was the late
Maurie Walsh, with first Secretary the late Bert
Mercovich.
First Ladies President the late Alice Richards
and Secretary, the late Min Kennedy.
Current Club President Stanley McDonald with
Secretary Chas Olive for 23rd Term.
The Club was affiliated with teh RVBA on the
28th February 1956.
Originally a member of the South Wimmera Bowls
Association, it currently is a member of the
Grampians
Bowls Association.
1993 saw the installation of a 'King Heylan'
Synthetic Green, later replaced in 2005 with an
'ABS' synthetic green.
Currently we have 50 male members and 34 female
members.
Over the years we have been successful in the
pennant competition, having won 3 Division 1 and 6
Division 2 premierships.
Our ladies have won 4 pennant premierships.
The Club conducts social bowls each Sunday and
Wednesday afternoon all year round.
During Daylight Savings, Twilight Bowls are held
each Wednesday evening in lieu of afternoon social
bowls.
On the first Friday of each month, open 2 bowl
triples are played, and on the third Friday of each
month,
mixed 2 bowl triples are played, both commencing
at 12.30pm in casual dress.

Bingo is held each Saturday Night commencing at
8.00pm at the Clubrooms.
Indoor Biased Bowls are played during the winter
months, with players competing in the local pennant
competition.
