President's Message:

Congratulations to all who participated, attended, or assisted in the 2010 ANZRI Lawn Bowls Carnival, held recently in Ballarat, at Sebastopol Bowls Club.

Our hearty thanks go to the organisers, Carnival Chairman (David Emmerson), Secretary (Robert Philp) Treasurer (Peter Dwyer) and the Carnival Committee (Kevin Mansbridge, Garry Bester, Geoff Close, Ray Whitehead, myself) and other assistance provided by members in general.

The Carnival was a resounding success! Hailed by some as the "best ever" - most participants had all the fun that was intended - win, lose or draw!

Thanks to the organisations that supported our Carnival and who, without, it would not have been such a success.
These include (but not only):

- Sebastopol Bowls Club, Greenkeepers, Chefs, Bar staff and all involved there
- Alpine Tours, our Transport Provider,
- Bell Tower Inn Accommodation & Begonia City Motor Inn Accommodation Services for Visiting and Local attendees.
- John Wakeling (Ballarat VRI Secretary and Liason Officer for the Carnival).
The list is endless, for thanks, so if we have forgotten anyone, our apologies, please accept our thanks.

Unfortunately, due to the Home Carnival, our entries in the VRI Bowls Annual Country Week are almost nill, so this event will NOT be run this year.

Congratulations to all the winners of the events at the Carnival, and well done to the Victorian Side for representing the VRI Bowls Club so well.  More details appear in other pages here, of the results, photos, statistics and news from the Carnival.

Until our next event, Best wishes & Good Bowling,

David Emmerson, President.

History:

The VRI Bowls Club is a Social Bowls Club.  It was formed in 1948, to allow Railway Men to have a social and competitive outlet in Lawn Bowls.

The Club has grown in size over the years, and currently has over 115 members, is open to Ladies and Men Members of the VRI Inc.

The Club has numerous events during the year, but does not have a Clubhouse or Green of it's own.  Rather, we hire out the facilities of a host Club, and play games during the year.

More details of the Club's history and events are on the following pages.  If you have any questions regarding the Club and its events, please let us know.
